DUT-CSERI INCUBATE TO EXHIBIT FOR THE FACIM INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR IN MOZAMBIQUE
From humble beginnings to breaking barriers in a male-dominated industry, she is here to empower and inspire women all around the world to rise together, lift each other and escalate to greater heights of success.
Nokwanda Nonjabulo Dlamini is a living proof that dreams have no limits. Having grown up in a rural village called Elandskop in Pietermaritzburg, her background and past didn’t stop her from achieving her dreams.
She matriculated at Sikhululiwe Secondary School than moved to Durban to pursue a qualification in Civil Engineering at Elangeni FET College and proceeded to study at Coastal FET College and acquired N6 in Civil Engineering.
She owns a successful Lift and Escalators company called Ozel Lift PTY LTD. She recently bagged an opportunity to go exhibit her company in Mozambique at the FACIM Trade Fair event on the 26th of August this month. FACIM is a multi-sect Trade Fair in Mozambique. Industry sector- General Trade Fairs for Capital and Consumer Goods Main product group- Capital goods, Consumer goods, Cars, Office machinery, Computer hardware, furniture and textiles.
Nokwanda saw an opportunity in the lift industry and registered her own company. She has worked with big companies such as Transnet Port Terminals, Agri Port, eThekwini Municipality and Ray Nkonyeni Municipality to name a few.
“I started my own company with the aim of doing construction since I had a background in Civil Engineering. I got a job of doing brick work to close the gabs in the industry, then I developed the love and started working under a subcontractor until I was subcontracted to IFE Elevators, Otis and Schindler.”-She said
She applauds the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship for being the eye-opener where there was a number of things she wasn’t aware of and also bringing a positive change towards her business.
Nokwanda says that in the next 5 years, she sees Ozel Lift Pty Ltd expanding its footprint globally, revolutionizing the lift and escalator industry with cutting-edge innovations and sustainable solutions.
